The second
day of a two day Technology Access Program hosted
at the former Island site to the University of Greenwich,
saw 27-year-old Somalian born Hussain Bisad presenting
certificates to the Somali children aged between 10
and 12 years, who participated. A number of things
particularly special about this event however, were;
The first being that TAPs gave opportunity to children
during school holiday to return to the classroom and
experience education as presented by the Integrated
Education & Employment Trust. Second that the
children actually built something electronic and were
able to use it to activate a racecar they built the
day before. And finally that Hussain himself a giant
standing 7'9", and contender for inclusion of
the Guinness Book of Records for being the current
tallest man in the world. Was guest of honour.
Steve Davis co-director of the IEET said "Both
the 29th and 30th of May will be a land mark event
the children will not forget. Not only did they achieve
much for so young an age, but the moment of having
a fellow Somali of such character and courage handing
them certificates has to be what made the day special."
