Common ethos of thinking

We use our vast non-profit making umbrella of organisations, whilst supporting Community-based & run projects. All initiatives aimed at improving the inclusion of these groups and encouraging a fuller participation into mainstream community life by increasing access to services, facilities and educational, economic, social and cultural opportunities.

The common ethos which underpins all our projects and initiatives is our commitment to combating the often inter-related socio-economic consequences of the isolation, discrimination and disfranchisement often experienced by certain sections of our community. Our process through quality education that is inclusive of real transferable skills.

Thus put in the context of a specific project; The short/medium-term aims of TAPs are primarily to improve the self-esteem and raise educational aspirations of under performing school children from lower socio-economic and/or ethnic/refugee origin. The ieet does this through an educationally stimulating access to technologically combined with interesting projects. Each is carried out in peer-groups inside or out-of a school environment. In the long-term however, it is hoped that these projects can foster and encourage a more active and effective parental/community participation of our wider communities education. One useful by-product of this might be that the project might provide the parents of these children not only with a platform from which to effectively voice concerns about their children's education, but also with a supportive net-work of parents, teachers, concerned agencies and organisations to share experiences that better channels their limited resources.
